MASVINGO –Bubbling Nobukhosi Sibanda (12) was crowned Charles Austin Theatre Queen at a glittering event held on June 14.

The event, which ran from 2PM, brought together eight confident contestants from various schools across Masvingo City, all competing for the crown in before a lively and supportive audience.

Nobukhosi of Helen McGhie Primary School, despite being the youngest contestant in the competition impressed judges and the crowd alike with her charm, confidence, and grace.

“Believe in yourself, no matter how young you are, dreams have no age limit if I did it, you can too,” she said.

The first runner-up title went to Nomagugu Ncube (17), a student from Ndarama High School, while the second runner-up crown was won by Melinda Tania Tumbare (16), a Form 3 learner at Victoria High School.

Other outstanding contestants also walked away with prestigious titles, Anashe Kaith Nickiana Taruvinga (13), student from Vulturesvale Academy, was named Miss Personality for her vibrant and outgoing character.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Magariro(18), a professional beauty therapist, captured the hearts of the audience and earned the Miss People’s Choice title.

Mhlauli Mlalazi said, “As the director of Charles Austin Theatre I proudly say they will forever be queens of our stage, my heartfelt thanks to Masvingo City Council for supporting the arts, Urban Lifestyle Hotel for hosting the models, the volunteer artists, our dedicated judges who came from Gweru and Chivhu, D’Varren for the free PA system, Zona and Manex for lighting and trussels, and Fortune Marangwanda, Prayer, and Sekuru VaBheka for capturing the event on video for free.

“I also thank the parents who stood by their children from day one, and the entire community who came in numbers, special salute to Ropafadzo Peace Manyanga, our 1st runner-up, and Miyananiso Melaina Whinya, the People’s Choice, they mentored these teens from auditions to stage and taught them how to shine.”

The event not only celebrated beauty but also talent, self-expression, and confidence among teenagers.

Organizers praised the participants for their courage and elegance, and the pageant was hailed as a platform that empowers young girls in Masvingo.
