MIDLANDS-ZIFA Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Division One Soccer League acting vice chairperson, Thomas Marambanyika has they will not tolerate any form of violence.

This comes after the game between Shabanie Mine FC and TelOne FC was abandoned before the fulltime whistle due to crowd trouble.

The match, which was played at Maglas Stadium in Zvishavane on Sunday, prematurely ended in the 85th minute due to crowd trouble.

The home fans pelted stones at everyone in the pitch, protesting the referee’s decision to give a free kick that led to a goal.

TelOne won the set-piece on the edge of Shabanie’s box and Blessing Sahondo struck straight into the back of the net.

Following the crowd trouble, the referee stopped the play before the game was officially abandoned after a prolonged period of disorder.

The scoreline was reading 1-0 at the time of abandonment.

TelOne will remain on top of the table with 23 points, while awaiting the judgement from the committee.

Speaking to Midweek Watch, Marambanyika highlighted that they are awaiting reports from the officials as well as clubs.

“The region does not condone the abandonment of games as a result of violent behaviour of players, technical officials and supporters.

“Whilst we are waiting for match officials and clubs reports, we strongly urge clubs to control their supporters and respect the decisions of match officials.

“For any grievances and redress, the clubs should follow clearly laid down procedures which they are all aware of. The statutes requires the match officials and clubs to submit their reports within 48 hours.

“Thereafter, a determination will be made. The penalties will be determined by an independent disciplinary committee guided by the statutes and schedule of fine. So far, I cannot tell the likely fines because the reports will inform the disciplinary committee on the nature of the offence(s)”, he said.
