NKAYI SOUTH-Fiery Nkayi South Constituency Zanu PF Member of the National Assembly, Stars Mathe has organised a rare sports gala to be held on Thursday May 25.
Mathe who is also Pan African Parliamentarian and vice chairperson of the Permanent Committee of Education Science and Technology said she organised the gala as part of Africa Day celebrations.
“Remember the month of Africa, One People, One Voice, and as a way of reminding our youth of the importance of this day we have decided to celebrate this historic day in style by staging an all-inclusive sports gala in the constituency.
“The day will see 15 netball teams and 15 football teams tussling for honors as there will be lots of prizes to be won on the day.
“Besides football and netball there will also be other sporting disciplines to cater for all ages and people of different backgrounds,” said the vibrant politician.
On the day the Africa Union was born by the founding fathers in 1963, Mathe will also host a traditional foods cooking competition in line with the First Lady Amai Auxilia Mnangagwa’s thrust of encouraging people to eat traditional foods which are health and easily accessible.
“In line with our First Lady Amai Mnangagwa’s thrust of promoting traditional foods we will host cooking competitions and those who would be adjudged the best will walk away with befitting prizes on the day.
“We are encouraging the eating of traditional foods as they help in the fight against prostate cancer in men among other benefits,” Mathe told The Midweek Watch.
She added that they will take the opportunity to preach the gospel of the dangers of drug and substance abuse especially among the youth which has become rampant in the country.
The youth will also be encouraged to register to vote and to vote for their preferred candidates who bring development and change their fortunes in the constituency.
