CHIVI-A mistress, Dignity Mbengo (30) from Village 3B Mamvura under Chief Shindi in Chivi District has been arrested for allegedly stabbing to death the wife of his boyfriend.
According to Masvingo Province Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, Tsitsi Dzimati Matangwaza Village under headman Gororo in Chivi on June 9 confronted Mbengo for dating her husband.
Mbengo is said to have denied the allegations and a misunderstanding arose between the two which led her to beat Dzimati all over her body using a stick and later stabbed her with an unknown sharp object on the left side underneath the shoulder.
Dzimati fell down due to the severe beating and lost a lot of blood in the process.
Sarudzai Chitanana who is the accused’s aunt, after seeing the incident then rushed Dzimati to Nyahonde clinic where she reportedly died upon admission.
A report was made at Ngundu Police Station and the accused was arrested whilst Dzimati’s body was taken to Chivi District Hospital for postmortem.
Dhewa urged the community to desist from public violence and to always solve differences in a peaceful manner or seek counselling to avoid unnecessary loss of life.
