This significant step towards modernizing healthcare delivery was made possible through a strategic partnership between NetOne and Zim Smart Village.

The latest addition to this initiative is the OneHealth Telemedicine Virtual Hospital in Chirumanzu, which joins a growing network of over 22 telemedicine booths commissioned across the country. This expansion is a testament to NetOne’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve the lives of Zimbabweans.

The telemedicine initiative enables patients to remotely consult with healthcare professionals, eliminating the need for physical visits and increasing access to specialized medical care. This is particularly significant for rural communities, where healthcare facilities are often scarce and difficult to reach.

Speaking at the launch of the ceremony, NetOne’s Acting Group Chief Executive Officer Learn Masunda, highlighted the transformative potential of the virtual hospital system.

“This visionary project bridges the gap between healthcare providers and communities, ensuring that even the most remote areas have access to quality medical care. We are proud to be at the forefront of this innovative approach to healthcare delivery. Our partnership with Zim Smart Village has enabled us to bridge the healthcare gap and provide quality medical care to those who need it most,” explained Masunda.

Zim Smart Chief Executive Officer Dr. Admore Jokwiro reiterated the significance of the initiative to the modern day healthcare service delivery.

“The virtual hospitals represent a paradigm shift in healthcare delivery, eliminating the need for long-distance travel to access medical consultation. Through these facilities, patients can connect with healthcare professionals remotely, receiving timely medical advice and care through digital platforms. This innovation is particularly significant in rural areas where access to specialized medical care has historically been limited,” Jokwiro stated.

The OneHealth Telemedicine Virtual Hospital in Chirumanzu is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, allowing patients to engage in real-time consultations with healthcare professionals. The hospital is staffed by trained medical personnel who facilitate these consultations and provide necessary support.

The successful implementation of over 22 telemedicine booths demonstrates the Zimbabwe Government’s commitment to leveraging technology for social development.

The telemedicine initiative has already shown promising results, with patients reporting improved health outcomes and increased satisfaction with the quality of care received. As NetOne continues to expand its telemedicine network, thousands more Zimbabweans are expected to benefit from this innovative approach to healthcare delivery.

In a country where healthcare infrastructure is often limited, NetOne’s telemedicine initiative is a shining example of how technology can be harnessed to bring positive change.
