NetOne is set to co-host the inaugural Vice President Kembo Mohadi Run for Hope Marathon at Mtengwe Primary School in Beitbridge, Matebeleland South Province on Saturday.
The marathon is aimed at uniting communities in the fight against drug abuse. The event themed ‘Championing a Drug-Free Future Towards Vision 2030’ aims to promote a healthier and more hopeful society.
The marathon will feature various distances-21km, 10km, 5km, and 3km to accommodate people of various fitness levels.

In a telephone interview NetOne Chief Executive Officer Engineer Raphael Mushanawani highlighted that the commissioning of rehabilitation works at Mtetengwe Primary School and the half marathon forms part of their OneLearn and OneHealth programmes under the broader NetOne CSR and digital transformation strategy.
He said the initiative speaks directly to the goals of Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) by modernizing rural education infrastructure, supporting youth development and fostering digital inclusion.
“NetOne is honored to be part of this landmark event- the commissioning of rehabilitation works at Mtengwe Primary School and the Half Marathon held in honour of the Vice President Col. (Rtd) Kembo Mohadi.
“This initiative forms part of our OneLearn and OneHealth programmes under the broader NetOne CSR and digital transformation strategy. It speaks directly to the goals of Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) by modernizing rural education infrastructure, supporting youth development and fostering digital inclusion.
“Our contribution includes the renovation of Mtengwe Primary School, installation of a solar-powered borehole, establishment of a thriving nutritional garden and commissioning of a fully equipped computer laboratory. These interventions are a demonstration of NetOne’s commitment to ‘Connecting the UnConnected’, and ensuring that no learner or community is left behind in the journey towards a digitally empowered Zimbabwe,” explained the NetOne boss.
Registration is free to encourage broad participation. Supported by stakeholders like BetterBrands Petroleum, TelOne, Discovery Health and Hype Nation, the event showcases the impact of public-private partnerships in driving social change.
The Run for Hope Marathon is both a sporting event and a social campaign, raising awareness about the dangers of drugs and reinforcing national values. Expected to draw large crowds, the event will send a powerful message of Zimbabwe’s commitment to building a healthy nation and fighting drugs and substance abuse especially among the youths.
