The event which took place in Mutare district at Munyarari primary school under the theme “All women and girls rights equality and empowerment “ was testament to NetOne’s commitment to empowering women and promoting gender equality.
As part of the celebrations, NetOne donated sanitary pads to the women of Marange.
In addition to the sanitary pad donation, NetOne also pledged to establish nutritional gardens in the community, providing women with the tools and resources needed to grow their own fruits and vegetables. This initiative aims to promote food security, improve nutrition and empower women to take control of their health and well-being.

NetOne public relations manager Ernest Magadzire said they are dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by women in Marange.
“Today we celebrate the strength and resilience of women in Mutare district. We recognize the incredible impact that women can have when they are empowered and supported. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are committed to doing our part to promote gender equality and empower women in our communities.

“As we commemorate International Women’s Day, let us remember that every action we take has the power to change lives. Together we can create a world where women feel valued and empowered to shine brightly. It is our shared responsibility to nurture this spirit of love, support and empowerment, transforming not only individual lives but the very fabric of our society.
“Let us continue to celebrate the strength of women and work hand in hand to uplift their voices and dreams. Together, we are making a difference-one heart, one garden and one story at a time,” noted Magadzire.
Speaking at the same occasion the Minister Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Monica Mutsvangwa saluted the incredible progress that has been made towards achieving gender equality by Government.
“As we stand here today, we recognize that women and girls continue to face significant barriers to achieving their full potential. From discriminatory laws and policies to societal norms and stereotypes, women and girls are often marginalized, excluded and silenced. However, we also acknowledge the incredible progress that has been made towards achieving gender equality.
“In order to improve women access to sanitary wear my ministry together with developmental partners are training women in clubs and girls on Menstrual Health and Hygiene and production of re-usable sanitary wear. This year over 2 000 women and girls have been trained and supported in some provinces and the training will continue until communities are able to reliably supply the much-needed sanitary wear,” Minister Mutsvangwa said.
Mutsvangwa said her ministry was providing awareness and training to women on climate change mitigation and adaptation and this is key in building resilience to climate change.
International Women’s Day is commemorated worldwide annually on March 8, recognizing women’s achievements and advocating for gender equality since 1911 and has since become a powerful symbol of the fight for women’s rights.
