MILLICENT HUNGWE
In Sendero village, under Chief Nhema in Zaka, Tonyofa Dangemari (90), was brutally assaulted by his nephew, Benjamin Chirume over witchcraft allegations.
According to ZRP Masvingo Province acting spokesperson Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu, Chirume arrived at Dangemari’s house, armed with an iron bar, and began accusing his uncle of bewitching him.
Dangemari was repeatedly hit on the head, and despite crying out for help, Chirume continued the assault him until his son, Gift Chirume, intervened.
The victim sought medical attention the following day at Mashoko Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on April 17.
The police are now urging members of the public to assist in apprehending Chirume, who is a fugitive of justice.
