MASVINGO CITY-As the 2026 first term begins, Ndarama High School located in the high density suburb of Mucheke has embarked on an ambitious infrastructure drive aimed at improving the learning environment and maintaining its grip as one of the best in Masvingo Province.

Several key projects have already been completed, these include the installation of floodlights on every school block, the acquisition of a new kombi to support school errands, and the installation of several Jojo water tanks to curb persistent water shortages donated by Provincial Minister of State Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira.
The school has also mounted educative signages across the campus, while efforts are underway to revive an old school bus after the purchase of a new engine, with repairs currently in progress.

Speaking on the developments, the Ndarama High School Development Committee Chairperson, Kefias Chipato revealed that the institution is set to undertake a major construction project over the next nine months.
“To add on to that, for the coming nine months we are going to construct a state-of-the-art school block comprising school offices, nine classrooms and a hall,” he said.
“It can also be used by the public for worship purposes,” he added.
The chairman further disclosed that the project, which was approved by parents, will cost an estimated US$600 000.
“The total cost for the project is US$600 000 and the whole amount is available, so we are just good to go. We already have 60 000 standard blocks here at the school to kick-start our project,” he added.
The Midweek Watch was informed that the new block will play a critical role in eliminating hot-sitting at the school.
The school head, Oddy Matongo emphasized that the removal of hot-sitting will allow all learners to attend lessons in the morning, improving concentration, reducing fatigue, and creating a more structured learning timetable.
School authorities believe this development will help sustain and even improve the school’s impressive pass rate, as students will benefit from full-day learning under conducive conditions.
In addition to classroom infrastructure, the school is also constructing a podium stand, which is already in progress.
The administration has opened the facility for hire, inviting members of the public and organisations interested in using the stage to contact the school.
Meanwhile, Ndarama High School has also introduced new O Level and A Level uniforms.
“We have also changed our O Level and A Level uniforms,” said Matongo.
With these developments, Ndarama High School continues to position itself as a forward-looking institution committed to quality education, improved facilities and sustained academic excellence.
