MASVINGO – Masvingo Polytechnic will be a hive of activity this weekend as it hosts the National Handball Open Season tourney that has been on sabbatical for the past six years due to COVID-19 and lack of sponsorship.
The tournament is running under the theme ‘Using the power of sport (handball) to prevent youth crime and drug abuse’.
There will be 13 female teams and 20 male teams from across the country’s ten provinces which are expected to take part in the tourney until Sunday.
Minister of State for Masvingo Province and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, Masvingo City Mayor, Collen Maboke and his deputy Wellington Mawende are expected to grace the event tomorrow for the official opening.
Chirikure Hatifitose handball board member told The Midweek Watch that everything is in place for the hosting of the tournament and they are expecting more than 20 teams from all over the country.
