MURAMBINDA-Cheeky five armed robbers pounced on Gains Cash & Carry and Mukuru at Murambinda Growth Point and stole $11 187 and R31 300 on May 24.
The five robbers armed with a pistol and four wooden logs who are still at large were wearing balaclavas and black clothes went to Gains Cash & Carry premises which also houses Mukuru and tied up the security guard from the back including a truck driver who had parked at the same premises.
Manicaland Province police acting spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch that the robbery took place on Africa Day’s eve and the suspects are still at large.
Chinyoka said, late into the night, Stanley Chabooka of Mabika homestead, Jaru Location at Murambinda in Buhera who is employed as a guard by Professional Security Pvt Ltd was on duty on the fateful day.
Chabooka was armed with a rifle, a bulldog at the Gains Cash & Carry premises when an alarm went off twice at around 7pm and at 8pm, then he reported to the company manager, Obey Mereka (39) who advised him to be on the alert.
Later into the night Chabooka tied up the dog as he wanted to find a warm place because it was getting too cold.
The five suspects arrived and tied up the guard using his shoelaces, they proceeded to the truck driver, Kudakwashe Munyoro (36) of Harare and tied him with his shoelaces as well.
The other suspect who was armed with a pistol remained behind guarding the two while the other four broke into the shop, breaking three doors of other offices in the process.
They ransacked the offices and force opened the safe and took $2 016 cash belonging to Gains Cash & Carry Wholesale, $9 115 and R31 300 belonging to Mukuru.
The two later untied themselves after the robbers had left and made a report at Murambinda ZRP.
The police attended the scene and recovered a dirty white glove and two wooden logs.
