MASVINGO-Tatenda Dendere (9) from Shiloh Compound in Mukwasine died after being electrocuted by a loose electrical cable.
The tragic incident occurred on the 16th of February around 1600 hours when Tatenda was reportedly looking for wild fruits with his 10-year-old friend.
According to police, the two boys passed through a church yard where a loose electrical cable was hanging around a mango tree. It is alleged that Tatenda touched the live cable and was immediately electrocuted before collapsing.
His friend rushed to alert elders in the area who then reported the matter to the police. ZRP attended the scene and no visible injuries were noted on the body.
The body was taken to Chiredzi General Hospital for post-mortem.
Confirming the incident, Zimbabwe Republic Police Masvingo province deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu urged members of the public to treat all electrical cables as live at all times.
