Mucheke juvenile electrocuted

MASVINGO-A five-year-old juvenile, Ashley Leroy Pavari died after a suspected electrocution incident that occurred around 0900 hours on March 14 along Nyusa Street in Mucheke D, Masvingo.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the child was playing outside the house in a shade together with other children who stay at the same residence.

Police said there was an electric socket in the shade where the children were playing.

At the time of the incident, the child’s uncle, Happison Mukoneri was taking a bath while other family members were inside the house.

Other children who were playing outside reportedly started screaming that the child had collapsed.

Makaita Murombe, the child’s aunt, rushed to the shade after hearing the commotion. Upon arrival, she found the child lying on the ground unconscious.

She then alerted Happison Mukoneri and they rushed the child to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It is suspected that the child was electrocuted.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Masvingo province spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
