Msv City partners Christian Bank in drugs abuse fight

MASVINGO-Masvingo City Council and Christian Bank Sports hosted a golf tournament as a way of fighting the scourge of drug abuse which has become rampant especially among the youth.

The golf tournament was also meant to raise funds for Ngomahuru Hospital which is a local rehabilitation centre and it was held at Masvingo Golf Club on Saturday last week where more than 20 golfers took part.

Speaking during the prizing giving ceremony, Chris Madamombe from Christian Bank Sports said, “this game is in line with drug awareness as we fight against drug abuse and we are also fundraising for Ngomahuru Psychiatric Hospital.”

 Moses Muputa won the first prize with 45 points and 14 handicaps followed by Richard Masiya on number two with 39 points at 12 handicaps and on third position was Daniel Timba on 37 points, 11 handicaps.

 On fourth position was Roberto Murimoga with 37 points and 14 handicaps winning cash prize and other prizes, number 5 was Aubrey Cummings with 36 points, 11 handicaps attaining cash prize and various other prizes, number 6 was Pascal Mudzikisi with 36 points and14 handicaps winning cash and other prizes as well, number 7 was Cephas Ngwenya with 34 points and 1 handicap winning cash and various prizes, number 8 was Veronica Chawonza who was the lady champion with 34 points and 44 handicaps winning a trophy, cash and various prizes and lastly on number 9 was Joseph Zawarira with 32 points and 9 points winning a cash prize as well.

The funds raised in the process were donated to Ngomahuru Hospital in Masvingo Rural.
