The Government, through the Department of Civil Protection under the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works, has extended state-assisted funerals to the families of the seven victims who perished in the tragic road accident that occurred on 12 September 2025 at the 179km peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road.

A solemn send-off ceremony was held at Doves Funeral Parlour in Masvingo on Saturday morning around 9am, where Minister of State Masvingo for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira represented by Acting Director for Local Governance, Ray Hove, officially handed over the coffins and funeral assistance to the grieving families.

The government provided all seven coffins and covered the full funeral services offered by Doves, including transportation of the deceased from Masvingo to their respective home areas for burial.

In a show of support, Mhizha Bus Services, pledged US$500 to each of the affected families to help with additional expenses.

However, efforts to get a comment from the company’s representatives were unsuccessful, as they declined to speak to the press.
