MSU celebrates silver jubilee with a golf tournament

ZVISHAVANE- Higher and Tertiary Education academic powerhouse, Midlands State University (MSU) last week celebrated its silver jubilee in the mining town of Zvishavane with a golf tournament which was held at the pristine Roland Park Golf Club.

The event follows the spectacular launch of the celebrations at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on May 15 this year.

Speaking during the prize giving ceremony, MSU Vice Chancellor Professor Victor Ngonidzashe Muzvidziwa reflected the institution’s transformative journey towards academic excellence highlighting the importance of partnerships.

“If you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together,” he said acknowledging the unwavering commitment and support of partners who have walked through the transformative journey together with MSU over the past 25 years.

Professor Muzvidziwa highlighted how MSU has transformed the once fading Zvishavane town through a series of economic developments.

In his speech, Nyaradzo Group representative Shepherd Mandimutsa applauded MSU’s accessible and inclusive approach to education transformation.

“MSU has redefined higher education by bringing the university to the people.

“Their model is not just about learning, but it’s also about community development and transformation,” he said.

Roland Golf Club president Piri Mukono thanked platinum mining giant Mimosa Mining Company for maintaining the golf course which is in a championship condition.

He expressed gratitude to MSU for choosing Zvishavane for the golf tournament.

The tournament attracted players from various institutions and corporates with sponsors and partners including NICOZ Diamond, Mimosa Mining Company, Nyaradzo Group, Old Mutual, First Mutual, ZERA, FC Platinum Holdings Interlink Advertising, ZB Bank, Stanbic Bank, Chinhoyi University of Technology, Zimbabwe Open University, National University of Science and Technology, Gwanda State University, Lupane State University of Applied Sciences conveyed to celebrate the silver jubilee in a festive competitive atmosphere.
