MASVINGO RURAL-Member of Parliament for Masvingo, Tendeukai Matara has donated sanitary ware and refreshments to one of the biggest women soccer teams in the province, Shine Shine Queens FC.

MP Matara donated the sanitary ware during Shine Shine’s friendly match against Bondolfi Teachers College FC on May 24 at Mucheke B Grounds.
The match was part of Bondolfi Teachers College preparations for the forthcoming national games featuring tertiary institutions from all over the country.
Shine Shine gaffer Takaendesa Mavesere showered praises on MP Matara for remembering the girl child.
“We are very happy with the donation because she showed that she is a concerned mother, and helping the girl child on such sensitive necessities and this will help the girl child feel confident among others.
“We also welcome any other donations in any form, it’s not all about money but anything that helps the girl child go further,” said the veteran gaffer with a passion for helping the girl child.
All the 32 team members of the team received sanitary pads and the MP promised to continue chipping in whenever funds permit so that the youths are kept away from vices by engaging in sporting activities.

Matara has been coming to the rescue of the youths especially the girl child since her days in the teaching profession before becoming an MP, as a way of fighting the scourge of drugs and substance abuse which is threatening a whole generation in the country.
“I have zero tolerance towards drugs and substance abuse and as a mother I get very worried when I see children engaging in such vices hence I try to come in with the little that I get to motivate them to pursue sport which help in keeping them away from drugs.
“By promoting sport the children have limited time for drugs.
“The sanitary wares are meant for these girls to feel comfortable when engaging in their sporting activities especially those who cannot afford as they come from less privileged families,” said the former teacher.
The girls expressed their joy for the donation and promised to keep away from vices and concentrate on the game of football as the ZIFA Eastern Region soccer season is fast approaching.
Shine Sine Queens once played in the ZIFA Super League but were demoted due to lack of sponsorship to fulfill fixtures.
