RUTENGA-Mwenezi East legislator Sheillah Chikomo has availed a $30 000 revolving fund to churches in the constituency in a move set to boost operations of faith-based organisations.

The facility was revealed during an inter denominational church service dubbed “Constituency Prayer Day” at Rutenga Primary School on Sunday.
Chikomo, who was the guest of honor at the function, hailed Bishops and congregants for gracing the event in their numbers.
“l would like to salute bishops and congregants from different denominations for this unique gathering which shows unity of purpose, as we pray for our constituency Mwenezi East ” she said.
“Today marks the launch of a $30 000 revolving fund, which will come in phases towards the operations of faith based organizations. This will facilitate church leaders and their followers to venture into projects as we promote development in our constituency” said Chikomo.
She said churches play a critical role in the development of the Constituency.
“By taking the church on board, we are moving in line with the government’s wholesome approach, as we consolidate other milestone achievements we witnessed in 2025 in our constituency, like the drilling of boreholes, funds for projects at ward level and building of classroom blocks ” she said.
“The church plays a critical role in safeguarding the moral fabric of the society through fostering discipline and addressing the menace of Drug and Substance abuse, hence it is important to support this institution, which lays the foundation of all other developments,” she added.
Vice president of the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) Bishop Lyphet Mugaviri Matenda, lauded Chikomo’s gesture, saying the fund will go a long way in ensuring development and uplifting the standard of life of congregants, in line with President Mnangagwa’s pledge of leaving no place and no one behind.
” I am grateful to Hon Chikomo for she has preached love more than us church leaders, with this revolving fund the church is geared to play a part in economic building through starting projects and finishing some of our projects which were being hamstrung by lack of resources” said Bishop Matenda.
Bishop Obed Shoko, president of the Anointed Church Leaders Association of Zimbabwe 4ED (ZACLA 4ED) hailed Chikomo for extending a hand to churches in Mwenezi East Constituency.
“The initiative by Hon Chikomo is highly commendable. This will help our churches to start income generating projects and become self reliant,” he said.
The unveiling of the $30 000 revolving fund for churches in Mwenezi East Constituency comes in the wake of other developmental success stories which include funding for projects across six wards in the Constituency, drilling of 15 boreholes, construction of classroom blocks at Chingwizi, Sosonye and Tokwe-Mukosi Primary schools.
