Minister Mhona rallies supporters as constituency is under threat

CHIKOMBAMinister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Felix Mhona who is also the MP for Chikomba Central, a Zanu PF stronghold has rallied his supporters by dishing out various goodies and start up capital last Sunday.

Chikomba Central is one of the constituencies that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has abolished in its preliminary report that is before President Mnangagwa for consideration.

It was all pomp and fanfare as Mhona set the Constituency ablaze with top musicians, Mark Ngwazi and Simon Mutambi performing some of their best compositions at the handover ceremony in eight wards oblivious of the impending abolishment.

The Minister donated 50 Buffalo bicycles to village heads in the constituency, a motorbike to wheelchair bound Headman Chandiwana.

Women were given 4 000 broiler chicks with feed and US$2000 as capital for Internal Savings and Lending Cooperative as a way of making them self sufficient.

 He also donated 50 goats for a project to be spearheaded by youths, a solar powered borehole at Zvapupu Church before he went on to officially open Chikomba RDC chairman, Israel Dhikinya’s grocery store at Mbiru Business Center on the same day.

Villagers were on cloud nine throughout the weekend as Simon Mutambi performed for free on the eve of the event before Mark Ngwazi entertained them during the event where two beasts were slaughtered to feed the supporters. Many villagers expressed their gratitude to the Minister since it was almost their first time to see a big artist performing live on stage.

Speaking during the event, Mhona encouraged beneficiaries of the projects to manage them well so that they do not collapse as they can transform their lives as he promised to come back with more.

Ward 17 councilor Dhikinya expressed gratitude to the Minister for coming up with such projects which he said empowers the whole constituency.

“I would like to express my gratitude to Minister Mhona for coming up with such noble projects which self-empowers women and youths. Such events bring unity of purpose in the constituency.

“Bicycles will make it easy for village heads to move around their areas of jurisdiction, and the solar powered borehole will ensure perenial clean water supply to the villagers and the icing on the cake was to see for the firt time national artists providing entertainment to the villagers. I am grateful to the Minister for such an initiative,” said Dhikinya.

One of the bicycle recipients, Village Head, Tendai Nyeketa also expressed his gratitude to Minister Mhona for the donations which will enable them to move around their areas with easy.

Mhona has become a dallying in the Constituency for holding such events which include regular football tournaments which attract the youths who are likely to be the game changers in this year’s watershed elections scheduled for July or August.
