MIDWEEK REPORTER
CHIRUMANZU-Controversial Tourism Deputy Minister and Chirumanzu South MP, Barbara Rwodzi who called a senior cop a dog last month has allegedly shouted at the investigating officer in an ‘accident’ case involving her son, George Chengetai Rwodzi last week.
This time around Rwodzi chased away a senior cop who had come to record statements following an ‘accident’ that involved her son and losing Chirumanzu South CCC candidate, Patrick Cheza’s driver, John Bata.
The ‘accident’ according to the Police happened a day after the harmonised elections at Njiva curve along Chaka-Charandura dust road in the Gonawapotera area at around 1pm.

According to eyewitnesses Rwodzi and Cheza arrived at the scene of the so called ‘accident’ and the Deputy Minister allegedly charged at the senior cop and chased him away while shouting obscenities at him much to amusement of the crowd that had gathered.
“Rwodzi shouted at the senior Police officer who had come to record the statements from the accident scene but he left in a huff after she charged at him shouting unprintable words. That woman is untouchable, she is too powerful and you can’t do anything to her even the Police are afraid of her, they quake in their shoes whenever they see her,” said a source who asked not to be identified for fear of retribution.
In an audio that went viral last month Rwodzi threatened to “deal” with the officer named as Assistant Inspector Chester Matsa for charging one of her supporters with defacing CCC campaign posters.
Rwodzi bellowed in the audio: “I will finish this with you in front of [Police Commissioner General Godwin] Matanga, you’re an idiot… You think CCC will win? You’re a dog! You’re a dog! Go and file a complaint wherever you want, you’re a dog. Stupid!”

“You’re handling Danger’s case. What’s he being charged with?” asked Rwodzi.
“He’s charged with removing CCC posters,” Matsa responds.
“Do you have evidence of this? May l have the evidence. Number 1. He is said to have removed the posters on which date? Number 2.”
The tirade invited condemnation from across the body politic and the officer has since gone AWOL and is on wanted list.
According to some senior Zanu PF supporters who spoke to The Midweek Watch, the said ‘accident’ never happened, but Cheza’s vehicle with his campaign team had its tyres allegedly deflated by Rwodzi supporters with a gun.
The supporters disputed a Police report which stated that Rwodzi was beaten and admitted at a hospital in Harare.
“How can armed people be beaten up by unarmed people, that’s a pure lie, no one was beaten at the scene, only that Rwodzi’s team thought Cheza’s team was regrouping to revenge and they produced guns threatening Cheza’s team who had their car deflated on the day of the elections,
‘Rwodzi and Cheza left the scene after smoking a peace pipe, but Rwodzi was not honest enough as she went behind and reported an assault case against Cheza,” said one supporter.
A video in our possession only shows disorderly conduct from both parties and there is no violence recorded.
Efforts to get a comment from Rwodzi were unsuccessful as she was not picking up her mobile phone and messages sent on her WhatsApp were not responded to until the time of posting the story.
