ZVISHAVANE- Platinum mining giant, Mimosa Mining Company will host the 2025 edition of the Chamber of Mines Inter Mines Golf Tournament at Rolland Golf Course in Zvishavane, The Midweek Watch reports.
The tournament popularly known as the Jumbo Golf Tournament is a key event in the chamber of mines calender scheduled for September each year.
Mimosa on Friday last week held a fundraising golf tournament aimed to raise money to spruce up the Rolland Golf course so that it can host the major event, with over $200 000 already been secured from the tournament.
FC Platinum president and Rolland Golf Course member Blessing Garamumhango said all the proceeds from the fundraising tournament will be channeled towards the renovation of the golf course.
“The golf tournament was a fundraising event for Rolland Golf Course. There are some works that we need to do sprucing up of the golf course to meet high standards so that it can host major tournaments.
“We are trying to push so that the course will host this year’s Chamber of Mines Inter Mines Golf Tournament. Mimosa won the 2024 edition of the Chamber of Mines Golf Tournament so this year we are the hosting mine.
“We have settled for Zvishavane to host the event and we would want to make sure that the Rolland Golf course is up to standard,” he said.
According to event organisers, the Chamber of Mines Golf Tournament serves as an opportunity not only for networking but also for sharing valuable information on how mining activities can be improved, particularly in areas of efficiency, procurement and policy issues affecting the mining industry.
Each year, senior executives, managers and other stakeholders come together to discuss pressing issues that help guide engagement and lobbying efforts for the betterment of the mining sector.
Other companies expected to take part in the tournament include Zimplats, Freda, Rio Zim, Zambezi Gas, Unki, Zimasco, Hwange Colliery, Powercoal ,BNC and How Mine among others.
The wining team will host the next edition of the tournament.
