MBERENGWA- A 50 -year -old man from Mberengwa under Chief Bankwe has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment when he appeared before Zvishavane Magistrate Sengster Tavengwa for raping a 90 -year -old granny.
The court heard that on the 11th of June 2025 at around 2100hrs, the nonagenarian was sleeping in her bedroom hut when the offender knocked pretending to be the victim’s grandson.
The 90 year -old granny refused to open after realising that the offender was not her grandson. The offender forcibly entered the bedroom hut and had sexual intercourse with the nonagenarian without her consent. The following morning, she reported the ordeal to her neighbour who accompanied her to file a police report.
