MBERENGWA-Chivi born C Mine gold mbinga Donald Mangeya (35) has died at his girlfriend, Lillian Moyo-Mangena’s place in Northwood, Mberengwa on Monday 17 April 2023.
Midlands Province Police Spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to The Midweek Watch.
“The Police confirms a sudden death where a 35- year- old man died upon arrival at Mberengwa District Hospital on April 17, 2023 at around 6am. Circumstances are that Donald Mangeya of C-Mine Mberengwa visited his girlfriend who resides at Northwood in Mberengwa at around 4am on April 17, 2023.
“It is alleged that at around 6 am on the same date, Mangeya started complaining of chest pains and his girlfriend drove him to Mberengwa District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The matter was reported to the police and investigations are progressing,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Mangeya aka Dony was buried today at his homestead in Madamombe ward 3 where Zanu PF candidate for Chivi North in the forthcoming harmonized elections, Godfrey Huruva Mukungunugwa and ward 2 candidate Aynos Chigombe attended the drama filled funeral.
In another unrelated incident, police confirmed a fatal road accident in which a 25 year old cyclist was hit by a motorist and died on the spot on 17 April 2023 around 6pm in Mberengwa.
Shepherd Chanhuwa 41, of Fortune Park, Mberengwa was driving a Honda Airwave motor vehicle along Mberengwa-West Nicholson Road and upon reaching the 95km peg, it is alleged, he hit a cyclist Tapiwanashe Mpofu from behind who was cycling in the same direction. Mpofu fell down, sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
The Matter was reported at Zvishavane traffic and investigations are in progress.
