MASVINGO-For the first time in its nine-year history, the 10th edition of the ZRP Commissioner General’s Annual Half Marathon will be held in ancient city.
Masvingo ZRP community relations and liaison officer, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa has confirmed that the 10th edition of the Half Marathon event will break away from the traditional venues of Bulawayo and Harare for the first time to Masvingo and Commissioner General, Godwin Matanga will grace the occasion.
The annual 21km ZRP Commissioner General race will be held on March 25 in Masvingo for the first time and all the country’s provinces will be represented at the annual jamboree.
Commissioner General 21km race is an annual half marathon hosted by the ZRP for all the 10 provinces and there are various prizes up for grabs from several sponsors and partners.
Dhewa told The Midweek Watch that the police will be hosting 21km and 5km road run for interested participants who feel that they are fit enough to last the distance.
“Preparations are still underway as there is lot that needs to be done. However, for now we all we can say to our interested participants is that the race will start at Caravan Park on a direction to be announced. There will be 21km and 5km races to be competed for by all age groups. Registration fees and race categories are yet to be announced but there are huge prizes to be won and interested individuals should visit Masvingo Central police station for further information or contact +263772 9111 44 for more inquiries,” said Dhewa.
