Masvingo United FC, Una Una as the team is widely know in the corridors of Mucheke surburbs, are the new Zimbabwe Defence Forces Cup winners after defeating the arm side United Lions FC at the home of football, Estadio de Mucheke.
Despite having received the invitation to participate in the tournament two hours before kickoff and despite most its players being absent following the league break, Una Una was not prepared to disappoint it’s supporters.
Initially Zimbabwe National Army based side United Lions had invited a Mozambican army based side to the same tournament but the writer is informed the same team failed to pitch up for the encounter.
The match started well with Una Una exchanging some brilliant passes in the middle of the park that was being marshaled by the veteran and former Boarder Strikers man, Kudzanai Dudu Kwachi. It was the inform Kwashi who was responsible for the solitary goal of the day.
Una Una used the same match as part of it’s preparations and trying new combinations.
The busmen are proud after being crowned the provincial independence cup winners after dismissing the flamboyant Harare based side, Mabvuku FC.
