MIDWEEK REPORTER
MASVINGO CITY-Philanthropic group, Masvingo Unite with members in the diaspora and those resident in the country has donated $545 to Ratidzo Zimcare School for the forthcoming national games to be held at Mucheke Stadium.

The donation was handed over to the school head, Bernadette Chihava by Masvingo Unite chairman, prominent retailer Ignatius Mazambani and businessman Julius Marimbire on behalf of the organisation recently.
Chihava expressed gratitude to Masvingo Unite for being the first organisation to donate to Ratidzo Zimcare School the hosts for the 2025 sports expo which run from July 21 to 25 for the disabled children who will be coming from across the country.
“Thank you very much for the $545, the money will go a long way in assisting us to host the important gams the special children,” said Chihava.
In an interview with The Midweek Watch Chihava said so far only Masvingo Unite has donated towards the games although they are just three weeks away from the event.
She said they require $5 000 to smoothly run the sports expo.
“We appreciate what was done by Masvingo Unite and we are still appealing for more donations in any kind so that we are able to host the more than 420 children and officials as they require three meals a day and other logistics for the games to run smoothly,” she added.
Mazambani also thanked the group members for putting their hands together for a worthy cause.
“We have handed over the money and would to thank you all for the helping, keep it up, these children need our help to keep them going so continue to donate,” he said.
Earlier on Chihava had extended a begging bowl to well wishers, and the corporate world for donations for the sports expo.
The sports expo will bring together about 420 participants from 13 Zimcare centres across all 10 provinces.
Participants will compete in various desciplines and ball games, offering children with intellectual disabilities a platform to showcase their talents and foster inclusion.
According to the letter, the Zimcare Trust, a charitable organization, organizes these annual games rotationally among its centres, however, with many of the children’s families facing economic hardship, the trust relies heavily on donations in cash or kind to make the event a success.
“Since we are hosting participants from all 10 provinces, you are granted the opportunity to advertise your company’s products or services at the venue during the three-day competitions,” said Chihava.
