Ward 6 Harare opposition councillor Denford Ngadziore took Masomere to the High Court for absconding lessons while attending Zanu-PF rallies as an MC

High Court Judge Justice Josephine Zisengwe will preside over the case.

Masomere is a teacher at Ndarama High School which is one of the biggest schools in Masvingo Province

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) councillor is demanding for immediate cessation of conduct by Masomere of furthering the interests of Zanu PF at the expense of his job.

“You are a civil servant in that you are employed by the government of Zimbabwe as a teacher at Ndarama High School in Masvingo. Our client takes great exception to that fact that, notwithstanding your civil servant status, you are a permanent feature at the ruling party, Zanu PF’s functions where you serve as a Master of Ceremony while acting in a partisan manner and furthering the interests of Zanu-PF by inter alia chanting Zanu –PF slogans.

“We write to advise that your conduct constitutes a breach of section 200 (3) (b) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe which explicitly prohibits members of the civil service from furthering the interests of any political party or cause. By publicly campaigning for Zanu-PF and canvassing votes for it, you further its interests at the expense of his (Ngadziore) political party, the Citizens Coalition for Change. We further advise that the constitutional prohibition of the furthering of the interests of a political party by civil servants are employed and deployed by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to help with the running of the election.

“We have been instructed to demand, as we hereby do, that you forthwith cease, that is to say, upon sight of this letter to engage in conduct that furthers the interests of Zanu –PF,” reads the application in possession of The Midweek Watch.

Tatenda Nyoka is representing Masomere while Ngadziore is being represented by Shava Law Chambers.
