Masimba Holdings, one of the five companies contracted to rehabilitate the Harare Beitbridge Highway has started blasting the 4km stretch of the road which covers the Nyanda mountains area in Masvingo.

The Nyanda mountains area is part of the highway that had not been completed as it required blasting of the big stones which need more equipment, time, and expertise.
The blasting which is scheduled to take place from May 16 to May 31, 2025, is part of the company’s ongoing road rehabilitation project which started in 2019.
The affected section of the highway will be temporarily closed for the duration of the blasting which may last up to an hour and Masimba advised motorists to find alternative routes or be prepared to bear the delay.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the cooperation and patience of all road users as we work to complete the construction project,” reads the statement.
Masimba added that motorists should exercise maximum caution and observe all road safety rules at the construction site.
The road construction project is expected to significantly improve the safety and efficiency of the highway, benefiting commuters and the regional economy.
