CHIREDZI- Regional Magistrate Elijah Sibanda sentenced brothers Simon Chinofamba (42) and Samson Chinofamba (36) to 20 years each last week for raping their 14 year old niece.
The men both married and from Midzi village (Maringire) under Chief Nemauzhe, Chivi were convicted after a tipoff from Chivi Department of Social Welfare.
State papers revealed that Samson Chinofamba visited the girl at his grandfather’s house and sneaked into the girl’s room at night on March 2025 and anal sex with her.
He repeated the assaults over the following year until 8 March 2026. The court heard he threatened to kill her or have her expelled from the family if she told anyone.
Simon Chinofamba was found to have visited the girl at her grandfather’s homestead in March 2025 and also sneaked into her room where he raped her once.
The matter came to light after the welfare department intervened following a tip off leading to the arrests of the two.
