ZVISHAVANE-Highlanders FC’s 19 games unbeaten run in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League came to screeching end after losing to reigning champions FC Platinum by 2 goals without reply at Mandava Stadium today.
Reigning Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year, Walter Musona hogged the limelight for the right reasons as he provided an assist to the opening goal before scoring the second one to secure a crucial victory in the race for the title.
FC Platinum came into this match without a win in two league games at their fortress and from the first whistle the Zvishavane based side meant business and were rewarded in the eighth minute when a Musona’s cross was turned in by a Bosso player for a 1-0 lead which they protected into the interval.
They came back stronger in the second half and secured a caution goal through their star man, Musona to end Bosso’s 19 games unbeaten run and a first into the season.
The win means Pure Platinum Play will have 30 points from 20 games having won eight games and six draws in the process.
FC Platinum gaffer Norman ‘Muchina Wemajuzi’ Mapeza expressed his jubilation over the win as it came over the log leaders.
“Highlanders is a top class team, we played well and it was a good win and we need to keep the momentum as the league progresses,” said the lanky Muchina Wemajuzi.
