It was a  State case that on the 1st of October 2022 at around 18:30, Makanya escorted his sister in-law who had been sent by her aunt to collect mealie- meal from her homestead.

While on the way upon approaching a bushy area, Makanya grabbed her by the waist and she tried to fight back but she was overpowered thus she fell down.

Makanya had sexual intercourse with the complainant without her consent.

After raping her, Makanya threatened her not to tell anyone and gave her R20 after he noticed that she was not able to walk properly.

Makanya escorted her home where he left her in custody of her aunt while he returned home.

On the 22nd of October at around 1800hrs the complainant’s brother noticed that she was not feeling well and he interrogated her until she narrated everything that had happened.

Her brother accompanied her to the Police and reported the case which led her to be medically examined and treated of genital warts at the Chiredzi Hospital.

It is alleged that his sister in-law had a twin whom he also allegedly raped but the case was dropped after she failed to be present at the court to testify.
