MWENEZI-Everson Madume of Village 4 Magwidi, Musapwe, under Chief Chitanga in Mwenezi appeared before Chiredzi Regional Magistrate Judith Zuyu for raping his neighbour’s daughter.
Madume is charged with contravening Section 65 (1) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23 “Rape”.
It is the State case that sometime in March this year at Village Tomu, Musapwe under Chief Chitonga, Mwenezi the complainant was coming from a well when she met Madume and he accompanied her home since they stay in the neighboring villages.
Upon arriving he realized that her parents were not at home only her siblings were there. That’s when he dragged her into the house, produced an okapi knife and threatened to kill her if she screamed.
Madume took some blankets and made a bed. He ordered her to lie on her back and she complied, he pushed her and had unprotected sexual intercourse with her.
The matter came to light after the young girl narrated the incident to her father while complaining of stomach pains and was send to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for medical checkup.
He was remanded in custody to 27 September 2023.
