Shurugwi-Samson Mangezi (22) from Shurugwi died after being stabbed over a cellphone by a knife at Chironde Village under Chief Nhema at around 7pm as he intended to buy beer.
Mangezi was in a bottle Store at Hwinya Business Centre, Shurugwi, intending to buy beer when an unidentified person snatched his cellphone from his pockets and upon enquiring from other patrons about it, an unidentified person instantly threw it to the floor.
Mangezi picked up his cellphone and discovered that the sim card and a battery were missing resulting in him asking again who had taken his cellphone.
This did not go down well with one of the patrons, Pilot Lunga who then angrily advanced towards Mangezi. Realising danger, Mangezi ran out of the bar towards his place of residence but Lunga persued him holding a knife.
Mangezi’s body was discovered by his brother later that night near a foot path that connects Hwinya Business Centre and Chironde Village.
