KWKWE-A 29 year old man boarded a unregistered Honda Fit with armed robbers lost US$420 to the gang on Sunday at around 12pm along Harare Bulawayo High way in Kwekwe.
Police told The Midweek Watch that on 13 August 2023, the complainant, Simelukuthula Ncube of Fitchlea, Kwekwe boarded an unregistered black Honda Fit at Senderai roundabout in Kwekwe CBD going to Sebakwe Block plots.
As he occupied the back seat, he recognised that the vehicle was being driven by a man who had three other passengers; one man on the front seat and two females at the back seat.
The 5 drove in the Harare direction and upon reaching the 204 Km peg, near Sebakwe Bridge, the driver pulled the vehicle off the road and parked.
The male passenger in the front seat disembarked from the motor vehicle and opened the back passenger door from outside. He pointed an unidentified pistol at the passenger and ordered him to surrender all his belongings.
The two females at the back further searched the complainant and took a wallet with cash amounting to US$420-00 and an Itel S18 Pro cellphone. The gang then pushed complainant out of the vehicle and drove away.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko is appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects.
“We would like to urge members of the public to use registered public service vehicles when travelling.
” As Police we are appealing for any information regarding the location of the four suspects.” Mahoko said.
