MASVINGO-What began as a day to celebrate his 25th birthday ended in tears as Panashe Dube drowned at Hippo Creek resort while swimming.
Masvingo Province police deputy spokesperson, Masauso Patinyu confirmed the sad incident.
He said Dube of Eastvale had gone to scenic venue to enjoy his birthday with his two friends, Tapiwa Mangwiro and Charity Mugabe.
Patinyu said Dube drowned while swimming in the pool at the resort centre located on the outskirts of Masvingo City about 16km along Mutare road on September 1, 2024 at around 3pm.
His friends with the help of the manager, Takudzwa Chibhanguza and some workers tried to perform first aid but it was to no avail and they rushed him to Masvingo Provincial Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Dube was a member of the famous Zion Christian Church brass band.
