Gweru Regional Magistrate Rumbidzai Mugwagwa has slapped Tinashe Taderera (21) 17 years in prison after finding him guilty for raping a juvenile at Gweru River along Mvuma Road.

Taderera will however, effectively serve 15 years in prison after the Magistrate suspended two years for good behavior.

Prosecuting, Eggrina Matutu told the court that on July 30, 2023 around 11am, the complainant left home going to church near Josiah Tongogara Airforce Base in Gweru.

The court heard that on her way she met Taderera who was sitting on the side of the road.

“Whilst on the road, Taderera followed and approached her, got hold of her left shoulder with his hand, pushed her down while closing her mouth to avoid the complainant from screaming,” added Matutu.

He then mounted on top of the complainant, lifted her skirt up to waist level and slightly pushed her pant aside, opened his zip trousers and inserted his erect penis into her vagina and had unprotected sexual intercourse without her consent.

The Court also heard that after the incident, the complainant went back to Church and informed other members who searched for Taderera, apprehended him near the railway line before handing him over to the Police.
