Mahogany Bulls emerged victorious at the Masvingo Rugby 7s Tournament held over the weekend at Victoria High School, clinching the gold medal after an outstanding performance.
Shabani Miners finished as runners-up and walked away with the silver medal, while hosts Masvingo Select claimed bronze in a thrilling contest.
Held under the theme #WeAware #WeCare #PinkTober, the tournament aimed to raise awareness on breast cancer and mental health.
It provided not only a platform for competitive rugby but also served as a space to promote wellness, encourage support and break stigma around important health issues.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch, Masvingo Select chairman and tournament co-organiser Sean Dziwire said the event was a blend of sport and advocacy.
“This was more than a tournament it was a statement. We wanted to show that strength in rugby isn’t just physical. It’s about resilience, mental health and community support.”
The tournament featured teams from Great Zimbabwe University, Masvingo Select, Mahogany Bulls, Shabani Miners, Midlands State University, Mahogany Bashers and Kwekwe Sports.
