…as murder trial continues
RUTENDO CHIRUME
MASVINGO-Magistrate Bishard Chineka has disregarded pleas by alleged murderer, Tafadzwa Kanengoni who claimed that he was being beaten all over the body by bees and remanded him in custody to Febraury 28 for continuation of trial.
Kanengoni who was arrested on January 10 for killing in cold blood Mucheke’s Sisk tuck shop owner Mike Munhungowarwa claimed that he was being stung by bees and has been failing to sleep as he is haunted by some spirits while at remand prison.
Speaking during the trial Kanengoni refused to answer questions from the Magistrate, but insisted that he is being stung by some bees as well as seeing people trying to attack him hence he is having sleepless nights.
“I am being stung by bees and I can not sleep at night because I see a lot of people coming to me wanting to attack me.
Chineka who did not tolerate Kanengoni’s behaviour cut the court proceedings and ordered that he comes back on February 28 for continuation of trial.
“The court may not have the expertise to verify that you are going through mental challenges but I will not tolerate whatever you are saying. The court will not waste time on you and nothing will change, trial will go on. What I can do for now is stand down this matter so that we continue with other cases ,” said Chineka.
Prior to the trial Kanengoni had asked for more time to look for a lawyer, a request which was granted.
Kanengoni is facing a number of robbery charges including that of killing the famous tuck shop on.
