M. Hugo is stuated in Chief Zimuto area in Masvingo Rural is appealing for assistance to finish the block to facilitate conduicive learning facilities for students who are congesting the few available classrooms which were built in 2008 when A Level was introduced at the institution.
The A’level block under construction has two classrooms for form five and six with a capacity of 30 pupils each and two in-house offices for each class.
The classroom block require a ceiling, furniture and finishing up touches according to the school head, Tsitsi Muganhu or about US$10 000 including labor to complete the construction.
Speaking in an interview with the Midweek Watch M.Hugo Muganhu said the A level block was built with the help of Beit Trust a non-governmental organisation which facilitate development projects for needy schools, but since then it has been struggling to raise the money needed to complete the block.
“We have received some assistance from Beit Trust which facilitated the building and roofing from January up to November last year and we were hoping that as of this year we will open doors for our A level students but we haven’t been able to do that.
“To meet the required minimum standards we need the ceiling for both classrooms which is estimated at USD$4000, classrooms desks , office furniture and floor or tiling which add up to about US$10 000. We wish to finish the two classrooms as a matter of urgency because A level pupils are squatting and it is disturbing the whole learning process. We appeal for help from different communities be it monetary or material,” said Muganhu.
Senator for people living with disability, Ishmael Zhou who recently visited the school to meet the visually impaired community also appealed for help to the business community and different stakeholders saying completion of the block will help pupils to get quality education.
“I am a former student here and it pleases me to see such development happening in this school. As the only school in the province which cater for the visually impaired, it is necessary that it is well equipped especially the A level classrooms. I therefore I appeal to those willing to help finish and equip this important project, please we need your assistance so that our pupils get quality education,” said Zhou.
