HARARE- A 44-year-old pastor from Glen View has been slapped with nine (9) months sentence for fondling the breast and private parts of a teenage girl in the church.
The Mbare Magistrates’ Court convicted the pastor from Glen View for indecently assaulting a 19-year-old congregant in December 2025.
In its bulletin, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the offender will spend nine (9) months behind bars after three (3) months was suspended for five (5) years.
“The Mbare Magistrates’ Court has convicted a 44-year-old pastor from Glen View and sentenced him to 12 months’ imprisonment for indecently assaulting a 19-year-old congregant. The offender will spend an effective 9 months after 3 months was suspended for 5 years,” the NPAZ said.
The convicted pastor asked the victim’s mother to let the victim help him clean the church and later betrayed the trust bestowed on him when indecently assaulted the victim.
“On the 8th of December 2025 at around 1030 hours, the offender asked for permission from the victim’s mother for the victim to help him clean at church.
“Upon arrival, the offender hugged the victim and started to caress her all over her body. The victim asked the offender to stop but he continued fondling her breast and her private parts, telling her how he loved her so much. When he pushed her to feel his organ, the victim cried begging the offender to stop,” the bulletin reads.
A knock on the church’s door rescued the victim as the offender abruptly stopped molesting the victim.
The victim confided in her mother what had transpired, leading to the arrest of the offender.
