Love shouldn’t hurt

Date:

I had the chance to leave
I could have been free,
To never be hurt again.
So young and dumb, l stayed
You swore to protect me
But l guess it was just a lie
It started with a push
And later turned into more
What happened to the oath you took
Infront of the priest on our wedding day
Is that what you meant
When you said “till death do us part”
Did you want me to leave in a coffin?
You choked me, punched me countless times
But still l stayed.
At 25 l saw my life flash before my eyes.
What happened? What did l do?
All l want is to be happy.
All l want is to be loved.
This is not what l was told…
Love shouldn’t hurt.
