MASVINGO-The Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League (PSERSL) bursts into life this weekend with a blockbuster matchday One lineup, headlined by a fiery local derby between Masvingo United FC and Great Zimbabwe University FC at Mucheke Stadium on Sunday.
The clash carries added intensity following last season’s dramatic encounters between the two sides. Great Zimbabwe University FC made history in the first leg when they became the first team to breach Masvingo United’s solid defence, ending their clean-sheet run.
However, Masvingo United FC responded emphatically in the reverse fixture, securing a convincing 3-1 victory to reassert their dominance.
With both teams eager to settle the score, Sunday’s encounter promises fireworks and could set the tone for their 2026 campaign.
Another derby to watch will see FC Wangu Mazodze take on 4 Lions FC, a side representing the 4 Infantry Brigade. The fixture is more than just a game with pride and local bragging rights at stake, making it one of the most emotionally charged ties of the weekend.
Saturday’s action kicks off with Bikita Chida Athletic Club hosting Chivhu FC while Manica Diamonds U19 FC face Africa Mineral Ventures FC at Chisamba. Power FC will battle Tongogara United FC as Greenfuel FC welcome Grand Legacy FC at their arena.
Matches continue on Sunday with Renco Mine FC taking on Mutare City Rovers FC while Deportivo La Murambinda FC clash with Destiny Stars FC. Tenax CS FC will also square off against Yadah FC, before Bikita Minerals FC wrap up the round against Buffaloes FC.
With all matches scheduled for a 1500hours kickoff, fans can expect an explosive start to the 2026 season as rivalries reignite and new stories begin to unfold across the league.
