Let’s define some terms here to enlighten our minds…

Date:

BY KENNETH DUMBURA

*Religion: belief, faith and hope in things unseen.

*African Spirituality: knowing, understanding and living by things that are seen, felt and touched = nature.

*Science: simply understanding how nature works; a shallow version/part of our Spirituality.

*Superstition: Religion on steroids which is often confused with spirituality.

Let us be sure to know what our ancestors intended for our inheritance, we are not a religious people and neither are we superstitious. Our ancestors knew, from understanding that only comes after a prolonged observation and learning, how the nature around them worked and therefore developed systems and principles that would help them as natural beings, to live in harmony and balance with nature.

This understanding of nature allowed them to come up with medicine, geometry, science, agriculture and technology that made organising society possible. This is the knowledge they shared with the world and from which the modern world operates.

But the modern world does not fully poses the ancestral knowledge because as defined above, the world is run by religion rather that Spirituality, to unlock the full potential of our ancestral knowledge, we have to go back to our Spirituality.

Who knows what is yet to be discovered and who better do it than the people who share DNA with the our ancestors?..
