Laura murder suspect, Munorwei further remanded

MASVINGO CITY-The late Laura Sainet (23)’s boyfriend Calvin Munorwei (38) who is a suspect in her murder has appeared in court and further remanded to March 28, 2025.

Munorwei appeared before Masvingo Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi on Tuesday (18/2/25) charged with the murder of her sweetheart, Laura, who was found dead along Beitbridge Road in Clipsham Suburb on December 16 last year.

Munorwei who has appeared in court for three times since he handed himself to the police after the death of Laura is out on US$100 bail coupled with stringent reporting conditions.

He is represented by Masvingo veteran lawyer, Charles Ndlovu.

Eunice Shoko stood in for the state.

It is the state that on December 16, Laura was found dead along the Beitbridge Road by passersby after having gone missing on Friday night following an alleged misunderstanding with her boyfriend.

A postmortem was done at Masvingo Provincial Hospital which confirmed that Laura was murdered as she had a broken neck and was hit by a blunt object on the head.

She was laid to rest in Marondera where her family is based.

Full trial of the case is yet to begin as the state is still carrying out investigations.

“The state is not yet ready for trial so we will be back in court on March 28,” said Ndlovu.
