Kyle Preparatory School has once again demonstrated its commitment to giving back to the community through a heartwarming charity initiative.

Kyle Prep pupils handing over goodies to their counterparts at Bushmead Primary.

For the second time, this year the school visited Bushmead Primary School, donating clothing and food packs to the underprivileged students.

The initiative, which was started last year, aims to teach students at Kyle Preparatory about the importance of giving love and care to those in need and it is the school’s efforts to focus on instilling values of kindness, empathy, and compassion in its pupils, The Midweek Watch was told.

During their visit, the grade five and six students with teachers from Kyle Preparatory also engaged in fun activities with Bushmead pupils and staff, playing soccer and handball and taking the time to break bread sharing party packs, to mix and mingle and make new friends. This approach not only brought joy to the children but also helped to foster a sense of connection and ubuntu.

The Deputy Head of Kyle Preparatory School, Joylene Malenga, introduced the charity initiative in 2024, with the hope of showing how far just a little bit of kindness and love can go as we all strive for a better world. She describes it as a relay – where Kyle Prep has passed the baton on to Bushmead Primary, and it will be their turn to spread kindness and love in their own way as a school too.

“This has been a blessing to both our school and Bushmead Primary, we are willing to help our counterparts, and we pray that God will enable us to go even further in our efforts to support those in need,” said Malenga.

The Head of Bushmead Primary School, Milka Denhere expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Kyle.

“On behalf of the school staff and SDC members I really appreciate this kind of love and care shown to our children, I always thank God for remembering us, we are thankful for this generous donation. We want to pass on our sincere appreciation to Kyle Preparatory School and staff,” said Denhere.

The two schools had time to lock horns in a soccer match pitting girls.

By involving its students in such activities, the school is helping to shape their values and perspectives, encouraging them to become active contributors to society. The initiative has not only provided essential support to the underprivileged children but has also fostered a sense of community and social responsibility.
