KWEKWE-In its quest for economic growth, the City of Kwekwe has recently embarked on an investment plan in Japan where the local authority engaged with several Asian countries eager to invest in agriculture and mining.
In an interview with The Midweek Watch, Kwekwe Mayor Cllr Albert Zinhanga who was part of a Zimbabwean delegation that attended the just ended Japan Clean City Initiative and the Mayoral Alliance Expo 2025 said he met with various Japanese companies interested in investing in Kwekwe.
“I attended the just ended business forum in Japan and I had an opportunity to meet a number of Japanese companies interested in investing in Kwekwe especially in the mining and agriculture sectors,” he said.
He said during the Expo, he had the opportunity to meet Shinroku Sakaguchi, the Chairman of the Mayor’s Alliance which comprises over 600 mayors.
“It was a major highlight in terms of networking. I managed to meet a number of friends who expressed their interests in investing with us,” he added.
Other participants who attended the Expo included mayors from Masvingo, Mutare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Victoria Falls and Harare.
The delegation also attended the Zimbabwe National Day event, where President Mnangagwa emphasised Japan’s significance as a key investment partner.
