KWEKWE-Liars have short legs, just like fake healers from Kwekwe who were exposed for throwing a live python behind a sick woman’s wardrobe during a healing session.
Midlands Police have confirmed the arrest of Freedom Phiri (30) of Mbizo and Elias Magumise (34) of Torwood in Redcliff for a bizarre incident that happened in Mbizo Suburb in Kwekwe on 1 June 2023 at around 6pm.
Phiri and Magumise were charged with contravening Section 45 of the Parks and Wildlife Act Chapter 14 after they were found in possession of a live protected python at a house in Mbizo, Kwekwe.
Allegations are that Nakai Gono (72) of Mbizo Kwekwe was sick and her daughter Stella Ziya (45) invited two spiritual healers to pray for her.
The two had once prayed for her in 2013 and she became better. The healers then informed Stella that the spirit was telling them that there was something in the house that was causing her mother’s illness.
As a result, they requested for water and salt which was to be used to cast away the object.
As Stella was fetching water and salt the two healers allegedly took out a live python snake from the satchel and placed it behind a wardrobe which was in the house.
The complainant got suspicious about the ealers’ actions when one of them vomited beer during the prayer session. This prompted the complainant to make a report to the Police.
Police attended the scene arrested the suspects and recovered the python which was handed over to the City of Kwekwe Snake Park.
Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Investigations are still in progress for taming animals without authority.
