Kwekwe FC owner throws in towel

KWEKWE-Struggling newly promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side, Kwekwe United FC president and owner Phil Makekera has thrown in the towel citing family commitments.

In a statement to the club’s executive WhatsApp group, Makekera said he would like to concentrate on his family, which he had neglected in pursuit  of the football project.

“Good morning gentlemen, it is with a heavy heart that I’m tendering my resignation from the team with immediate effect,” wrote Makekera.

“I would like to concentrate on my family that I have neglected for years pursuing this project. I will relinquish my shareholding in the team as follows 20% Community, 80% business people,” reads part of the message.

Kwekwe United FC are currently at the basement  of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League log standings.
