KWEKWE-The Zimbabwe Republic Police are investigating a case where a Kwekwe family was attacked by six unknown men armed with iron bars machetes, before they robbed them of valuables worth US$3 080-00.

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred on 31 March 2023 around 2130 hours in Sherwood Kwekwe.

He said on the fateful night the complainant and his son were walking home from a nearby tuck shop when unknown men

ordered them to sit down, tying them with cloth belts on both arms and legs and took the complainants’ two Itel cell phones.

Insp Mahoko added that the suspects who are still at large demanded money from the complainants, indicating that they recently sold a motor vehicle.

“The suspects went to the complainant’s home where they pounced on an unsuspecting complaint’s wife and threatened to kill her with machetes thereby robbing her of cash amounting to US$2 970-00. After committing the offence, they disappeared leaving the complainant and his son helpless. The two managed to untie themselves and reported the matter to the police at ZRP Munyati base. The Police attended the scene of the incident and investigations are still in progress, said Insp Mahoko.

Insp Mahoko appealed to members of the public who might have information leading to the arrest of the six suspects to report to the nearest police station.

“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information leading to the arrest of the suspects to visit any nearest police station and make a report,” he said.
