MBERENGWA-Kuvimba Mining House (KMH) has announced plans to construct the biggest lithium concentrator plant in the country at its Sandawana Mine in Mberengwa.

The development was announced yesterday by the Mining House’s Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Trevor Benard addressing stakeholders at Sandawana Mine.
Benard said the project will be commissioned in the second quarter of the year 2027.
He said the company is finalising a Build- Operate and Transfer agreement with international investors for the construction of the plant.
“We are hoping to witness the commissioning of this major processing plant during the second quarter of 2027, 18 months from today.
“The project will require a lot of hard work but we are able to do that with our partners.
“We are fortunate that the global lithium prices have increased over the past 6 months and this means that the project will be financially liable and we can implement it as quickly as we can,” he said
He said the mining company was currently making feasibility studies to understand the layout of the project so that they can know the type of machinery and equipment needed for the project.
He described Sandawana as one of the best lithium resource in the country, highlighting the high purity and superior grade of the lithium concentrate already being produced, which he stated exceeds international standards.
Once fully operational, the mine is expected to produce over half a million tonnes of lithium concentrate annually.
